REI has worked with Mike Hyter in three distinct roles: keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, and Diversity & Inclusion strategist.
One of Mike's gifts is that he truly connects with the audience. He takes the time before an event to understand the audience and the goals you're trying to achieve so that he can design and deliver a message that will have a sustainable impact. He learned and used REI's language so it resonated with our audience. He used examples that were about REI and issues we face in our business, so the customization helped him connect his content that much more.
Mike is also very interactive, so that plays well with the audience. For Mike it's not just a one-time event, but an opportunity to impact the culture and organization.
Mike is an authentic leader with great core values – and it shows on stage. For instance, he spoke to an audience of 300 at REI and the feedback was that Mike was talking to me personally, making me laugh, and holding me accountable. Mike demonstrates examples of what he's learned and the audience feels like they're learning it with him. By using examples and demonstrating his own vulnerability, the audience really opens up and receives his message.
